PATHOLOGY SERVICES
BVP offers client services in the two primary pathology
specialties, as recognized by the American Board of
Pathology, as well as several secondary specialties.
Anatomic Pathology
The science of diagnosing diseases based on the appearance
of tissues, both gross and microscopic.
Clinical Pathology
The science of diagnosing diseases based on the analysis
of body fluid like blood, urine, etc.
Breast Pathology
The scientific study of breast cancer and
benign breast diseases and the interpretation of special
ancillary studies that provide additional information
that may be used by clinicians to make therapy
decisions.
Our pathologists’ extensive training and expertise enables
us to provide additional services in the following secondary
specialties:
CytopathologyThe scientific study of disease changes within individual
cells or cell types.
Gastrointestinal (GI) Pathology
The scientific study of diseases of the esophagus,
stomach, small intestine and large intestine.
Dr. Michael Cohen and Dr.
Oscar Lazcano were founding partners in
what has become the largest gastrointestinal pathology
group in the country. On a daily basis BVP diagnoses
numerous GI pathology cases from across the United
States. In fact, BVP has reported over 22,000 GI
cases in the last seven years.
Hematopathology
The scientific study of blood, blood forming organs
and blood diseases.
Nephropathology
The scientific study of diseases of the kidney.
